Project Details

Consulting and training for organizations serving African Americans throughout California. Services include individual consulting, group or staff training, product development and research. Customized on-site consulting is available to meet the special needs of organizations seeking to improve or target alcohol and other drugs (AOD) services for African Americans.

The African American TA project serves AOD prevention, treatment and recovery organizations.

Population or Groups Served:

Community-based organizations, local and county government agencies and programs, churches and neighborhood groups.

Eligibility Criteria:

Organizations providing alcohol and other drug services in prevention, treatment or recovery targeted to African Americans.

Project Goals

ONTRACK assists organizations by expanding resources, providing technical assistance and supporting efforts to incorporate cultural competency in AOD programs. Project goals are to:
• Improve and promote the health and wellness of California’s African American families and communities.
• Effectively respond to community needs for alcohol and other drug information and technical assistance.
• Organize and leverage existing resources to support programs and neighborhood efforts to reduce and prevent alcohol and drug abuse.
